Awakened by Ciara Duggan Review

This book initially caught my attention due to the stunning cover yet when I saw how it had been pitched I had extremely high hopes. When I requested it I saw the premise and thought that it was trying to compare itself to a lot of great books. When referred to as for fans of ‘Crave’, ‘Hush Hush’ and ‘The Vampire Diaries’ you are setting yourself up for a brilliant book and I felt as if Awakened nearly lived up to it.

Awakened follows Hannah after loosing her parents in an accident. Desperate to leave her old life behind and escape the past Hannah moves for college at Bellcliff University. Once there she discovers that she can feel the magic around the school before accidentally awakening a witch in a hidden cave by the campus. Hannah is forced to face the fact that she has brought magic back to the world as she struggles to realise that she has been a part of this narrative for a lot longer than she remembers.



The story in this book had such good potential and it did deliver in some aspects. The dual timeline narrative really added to the story-line by letting you see the story play out in both the present and the past. The history aspect of the book was the most interesting to read about and seeing how the witches developed made the book so interesting.

The main character Hannah was really fun to read about as she had very relatable moments to discovering the magic. The representation of anxiety through Hannah’s character was interesting however, in some points it felt like the anxiety was not portrayed in the right way.

On the other hand some aspects of the book were a little hard to read especially with the matter of insta love. The two main characters instantly fell for each other and although it was explained within the book it still felt a little too much. A lot of aspects of the story felt as though they were not expanded as much as they needed to be.

Overall I feel as though the book needed to be developed more with the story line as well as more focus on the side characters which is what resulted in it being a three star book for me. The characters were interesting and the magic system was captivating however needed more detail in order for this to be a higher rated book. I would maybe read more of the series if it developed the characters and the story.

2022 Reading Goals

2022 is going to be my year surrounding my book goals. Last year I did not read much until around mid year so my goals got forgotten about a little bit however, I am officially in my reading era again. I have around seven book goals that I would like to get to this year. This may be a little bit ambitious but I am extremely ready to push myself and try and stick to some goals this year.

  1. Read 100 books

Last year I was at university for half of the year and did not really focus on reading till around July. I managed 76 books in 2021 so I have upped my goal to 100 this year to make up for the lost time I had during university now I have more free time.

2. Read more Stephen King

I always say that Stephen King is one of my favourite authors however I have actually only read a small amount of his books. The top of my list to read this year is Cell, Four Seasons and Misery. I really want to try and read one a month but at least one every couple of months.

3. Read horror books

I recently discovered my love of horror books and I really want to expand my collection and the ones I have read. This one ties in with reading more Stephen King who is supposed to be the king of horror. I have a list but I would to find more abstract recommendations of ones that are truly going to scare me.

4. Read my NetGalley books

I have been approved for many books on NetGalley however, I have not read as many as I would have liked, and I also have not reviewed enough of the ones I have read. I would love to get my score above 80% by the end of the year however that may be a little bit too high so realistically I would like to at least get it above 50%.

5. Finish the series I have already started

This is such a bad habit of mine. I will begin a series and then I will never finish it. I have around thirty-four unfinished series on my shelf. My goal this year is to at least finish ten of these series especially as some of the unfinished series are duologies.

6. Get my physical TBR down

This is my main goal of the year. I have definitely been buying way too many books recently and not reading as many. My TBR is way over where I would like it to be and I am officially on a book buying ban until the end of June in order to try and get my TBR under control a little bit more.

7. Update my blog more

This isn’t so much a reading goal, but I would love to get back into posting my reviews more and make sure my blog stays updated. I would love to do a review for the majority of the books I read however, making sure I do them for my favourite books is really important so that I can look back on them and see my thoughts.

I would love to make sure I complete at least some of these goals by the end of the year even if I do not complete them all. Through the year I really want to reflect on my goals and see which ones I need to work on more as well as which ones I have actually achieved.

Most Anticipated 2021 Sequels

2021 has so many amazing books coming out this year that I could not contain them into one blog post. So, today’s is going to be about my most anticipated sequels coming out this year. I have found eleven books (I tried to get it down to ten, but I couldn’t!) that currently have release dates for this year most of which I have already preordered. This list is in order of release date and I am so excited to finally get to all of these.

Concrete Rose by Angie Thomas – 12th January 2021

This is a prequel to Angie Thomas’s much-loved book The Hate U Give. This follows Garden Heights seventeen years prior to The Hate U Give. Maverick Carter is a family man who only knows how to take care of his family in one way: dealing with the King Lords. He’s got his girlfriend and his cousin to help him. Until he finds out he has a son. This finally gives him the chance to get straight, finish school and care for his son. But it’s not that easy to just walk away.

I love Angie Thomas’s book. They are so beautifully written it gives such an insight into different cultures. The Hate U Give and On the Come Up are such prominent books within the YA book community and I do think that everyone should read them at least once. Hopefully Concrete Rose will be as insightful as the other two novels which I am sure it will be as Angie Thomas has not let me down so far.

Liberte by Gita Trelease – 2nd February 2021

This is the sequel to the book Enchantée (All That Glitters). I read the first book in this series when it first came out and I adored it. The setting was beautiful, and the characters were amazing. It follows Paris within the revolution Camille can change objects with magic. But when struggling to survive she decides to go for a bigger target. The court of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. She is forced to change into a baroness she meets a group of inventors, but she struggles to keep a hold of herself in the process.

This book was so beautiful mainly because of the description of the beautiful Parisian setting. It was so interesting to see the comparison between that of the revolutionaries and the aristocrats. It has such a good family dynamic within it and that is hard to achieve so if you like books with that dynamic then you should check out this series. I really loved Camille and Lazare. They were not like your usual YA couple; they could hold a conversation that held meaning to it and their romance developed at such a good pace.

A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas – 16th February 2021

If you do not know about this one you have been living in a cave. This is the highly anticipated sequel to the A Court of Thorns and Roses series. This book series surrounds the feys in their different courts. Feyre is dragged into this world after killing a wolf in order to help her family. This newest instalment is the first book in a side series based off Feyre’s sister Nesta and Cassian.

I loved this series when I first read it. I know it is currently receiving a lot of hype on BookTok as well as Instagram, but I can not remember much of it and I am hoping to reread it before getting to this one. Although it does have its issues, I do think this is a very good series and I hope I enjoy my reread and this newest book as much as I remember loving them.

Covet by Tracey Wolff – 2nd March 2021

This is one of my most highly anticipated books. It is the third book in the Crave series which follows Grace after her parents die and she is sent to a boarding school in the middle of nowhere in Alaska. Here she meets Jaxon Vega, the guy that everyone looks up too. But the school is not what it seems, its full of paranormal creatures from vampires to werewolves to witches.

I am obsessed with this series. I read the first book in December and I have just finished the second book. Each book ends on a bigger cliff-hanger than the last and I think this is in the top two anticipated books. I love everything about these books, the characters, plot, humour, storyline. I hope this third book is as good as the last two.

Rule of Wolves by Leigh Bardugo – 30th March 2021

This is the sequel to the new Nickolai series by Leigh Bardugo. The first book in this series follows Nickolai three years after the events of Ruin and Rising. I’m not quite sure what else happens because I still have not read the first book in this series!

I anticipate anything that Leigh Bardugo brings out because she is my favourite author. Her Six of Crows series is my favourite books of all time and I know I will love this series as much as I loved her other books. Hopefully, I will be rereading her entire works at some point this year.

Skulduggery Pleasant Dead or Alive by Derek Landy – 1st April 2021

Skulduggery Pleasant is a long series, and this is the fourteenth book in the series. This series follows skeleton detective Skulduggery and his sidekick Valkyrie Cain. Thrown into the world of elementals and adepts Valkyrie is forced to keep fighting evil one day at a time.

This series has been one of my favourites since I was really young. I am currently rereading all of them in anticipation for this one. This is the only middle grade book on this list, but I really do love it. It is a long series to start but I really recommend it. The humour is perfect, and the magic system is one of my favourites in books.

Oculta by Maya Motayne – 6th April 2021

This is a Latinx inspired series following a girl who can change her face at will and a prince. The two have to team up in order to stop an evil that has been released on the world. After the prince’s older brother was murdered, he felt as though he could not live up to his older brother’s example.

I read this book a few years ago but I can not remember much about it. I do remember loving it especially the magic system involving the shapeshifting aspect. Before I read this book, I do plan on rereading the first book so that I can enjoy the sequel just as much. The whole world building in this book was beautiful and I can not wait to be thrown back into it again.

The Nobleman’s Guide to Scandal and Shipwrecks by Mackenzi Lee – 27th April 2021

This is the third book in the Montague sibling’s series; the first book following Percy and the second following Felicity. The final book in this series will be following Adrian Montague as he searches for his siblings. Siblings that up until recently he had no idea existed. As he goes to the Caribbean to seek the rest of his mother’s things after her death, he discovers his family tree.

I loved the Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue when I read it when it first came out. Then I was not as keen on the second book The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy. However, this book sounds like it has a lot of focus on Monty again who is my favourite character so I am hoping I will love this one as much as I loved the first.

Heartstopper Vol 4 by Alice Oesman – 13th May 2021

Heartstopper follows Nick and Charlie two boys in High School who are trying to figure out who they are. Nick is the jock of the school and closeted from his family and friends whilst Charlie has just come out and is struggling to find his place. This explores their relationship from its highs and lows.

I love this series. It is so cute and easy to read. I like to read them as an escape, and it is so nice to read something so nice whilst everything is going on. I am currently working my way through Alice Oesman’s work and I am loving all of them. Hopefully this one is as good as the last three.

When Night Breaks by Janella Angeles – 24th August 2021

The first book in this series follows a magical competition where magicians compete to earn a place as a headliner in the Conquering Circus. As each act becomes riskier the contestants struggle more. Especially when they start showing up maimed and injured. Kallia must figure out who is behind the injuries before she gets hurt herself.

I loved this book. It ended up being in my top ten books of 2020 and I can not wait for the next one to come out. The cover already makes me love it and the synopsis sounds amazing. The whole idea of the competition and the magic used throughout this book is beautifully written. The first book also left off on a cliff-hanger, so I need this book as soon as possible!

The Bronzed Beasts by Roshani Chokshi – 21st September 2021

This is another third and final book in a series. This is the final book in the Gilded Wolves trilogy which surrounds a heist to find an artifact which an ancient order seeks. To do this Séverin the leader pulls together four unlikely people to retrieve it: an engineer, a historian, a dancer, and a brother. They explore the dark, wealthy streets of Paris in order to find it so that Séverin can retrieve his true inheritance.

I do not want this series to end. This is truly one of my favourite book series and I do not think it gets the hype that it deserves. I think this might be my most anticipated release this year.  Each book takes place in a different location which feels as though I am being transported throughout every novel to a different place. The first one takes place in Paris, the second in Russia and this third instalment will be taking place in Venice which sounds amazing. The last book ended on a huge cliff hanger and I cannot wait for this last instalment even though I do not want it to ever end. These characters are so special to me and make me love them each time I read this book. The romance is heartbreakingly beautiful, and the friendship dynamics are some of the best I have ever read. Also, this cover is beautiful.

I am really excited for all of these releases this year. It is such a great year for book sequels and I this is not even all of them! Some of them I am more excited for than others but they are all great series that I would recommend to everyone. Crave by Tracy Wolff Review

I don’t know how I transported myself back to 2010 with my Twilight vampire phase yet here we are again. When I got confirmed for the arc of Crave by Tracy Wolff, I was skeptical. I haven’t read a vampire novel since I finished the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead and I never thought I would re-enter that part of my life. But here we are.

I ate this book up. Crave was the biggest guilty pleasure book I have ever read. It had your typical clumsy high school girl meets a tall, handsome vampire who she thinks will never be interested in her. Throw in a gorgeous, funny best friend who brings together the love triangle and there you have it. This book.

After Grace’s parents are killed in an accident, she is sent to her uncles boarding school, Katmere Academy, where she immediately notices everything is not quite as it initially seems. As she becomes the only human in a school full of vampires, witches and shape shifters her life is immediately put in danger. Especially since more than one of them are trying to kill her. When Jackson Vega, a mysterious vampire, begins to show a special interest in her Grace must figure out where she belongs in this world full of paranormal creatures.

What I loved the most about this book is how it knew how cliché it sounded yet just went with it. It makes fun of itself which had me laughing on more than one occasion because unlike other cliché vampire books (Twilight) it does not take itself too seriously. It makes references to how she did not want to be the typical boring girl who falls for the dangerous guy or how she is constantly having near death experiences.

The romance kept me wanting more the entire book. Grace and Jackson had a great chemistry that works despite the book only taking place over the space of a week. Even Grace acknowledges this constantly holding her own by saying that she does not want to be one of ‘them’ girls. The back and forward of the two texting each other dad jokes was the most hilarious and romantic part of this relationship. It is easy to tell why Grace falls for Jackson; his use of dad jokes and love of 90’s music makes him a perfect guy.

The only thing that let this book down for me was the world building. I feel like a lot of the characters were there just to support Jackson and Grace’s romance and I would love to see more from the shape-shifters in the second book because I found them so interesting but they were not in this instalment as much as I thought they might be. I feel as though a lot of the information about the creatures; the rules, the backgrounds and the powers were rushed and did not give as much depth as it needed.

I gave this book 3.5 stars purely because of the world building and the cliché moments that just reminded me a little too much of my twilight days, however, I will be getting the next one because this is going to be a series and I could not be more excited. I have also heard that Universal has bought the film rights for this book and I can not wait to see how the movie comes out (and who they’re going to cast as Jaxon Vega!).

Books Series I Need to Finish Part Two

Monsters of Verity by V. E. Schwab

This was a lockdown read for me last year. It’s a duology which features This Savage Song and Our Dark Duet. I loved the first book. I thought the entire world building and the characters were perfect. The fine line between good and bad as well as the monsters within the world were written amazingly. I can not wait to get to the second book this year!

This book follows a young man and woman and their decision to be good or bad. Both of them heirs to a war-torn city; Kate who wants to be just as ruthless as her father and August a monster who wants to be as good as his human father. When August is offered a chance to protect Kate with his weapon of music, he jumps at the chance but when they are both nearly assassinated, they must decide where their loyalties lie.

Monstress by Marjorie M. Liu

Monstress is a graphic novel series with breath-taking artwork and a dark, in-depth story. I have read the first two and I am really looking forward to diving into the story more although I always put off buying graphic novels. The characters are ones that you hate to love apart from the little cinnamon roll Kippa.

This is set in Asia with a teen girl who is struggling with the repercussions of war and is somehow connected to a monstrous being. But this connection causes consequences with both humans and monsters alike who are hunting them through the world.

Nevernight Chronicles by Jay Kristoff

Another lockdown book series that I started last year and loved. This series is a trilogy featuring Nevernight, Godsgrave and Darkdawn. I know this is a lot of people’s favourite book series and I can see why. The first book ended up on my favourite books of 2020 list and I already own the second book, so I am really excited to get to the rest of them.

This is about Mia Corvere who is a daughter of an executed traitor who joins a school of assassins in order to get revenge on those that killed her family. She is entered into a competition in order to defeat the rest of the students in challenges to become a Blade of the Lady of Blessed Murder. Alongside her shadow cat Mr Kindly, she must figure out the answers to the tasks and find out who is murdering her fellow students.

The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater

I read the first book in this series a few years ago and I thought it was okay, but I was not as obsessed as everyone else. However, I do want to give the series another try eventually to read all four because I know this is another one of BookTubes favourites. Some of the aspects I enjoyed like the friendship between the boys as well as the setting but for some reason I could not get into it fully.

This is about Blue who when she kisses the love of her life he will die. Every year her and her mother go to the graveyard to see the soon-to-be dead, but Blue has never seen one until a young boy approaches her. Gansey is a student at the privet school near her house who seems to have everything. But the two are drawn to each other and Gansey is on a quest with his raven boys. As their lives become intertwined the two realise more sinister things are going on.

Saga by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples.

This series is a graphic novel series which I read the first book years ago and really enjoyed. I never got around to the rest of the series even though I did love it, but this is mainly because graphic novels are expensive, and I don’t often get to them.

This is about two soldiers from two sides of the war who fall in love. It results in the two having a child and fleeing from the opposing sides who are after them both. Alana and Marko are running from everyone across the galaxy to protect the one thing they love more than each other.

Skulduggery Pleasant by Derek Landy

I began reading this series as a child and is one of the series that got me into reading. I read most of the series when I was younger, but I ended up falling behind as I grew up and I now have around five unread. Currently I am doing a readathon of the series which I am loving, and I am hoping to finish them all before the end of this year.

This follows a skeleton detective in a world of magic and his sidekick Valkyrie Cain. They both use elemental magic in order to figure out who is trying to end the world. Both must work together in order to defeat a threat from Skulduggerys past who wants to rebuild the world in his image.

Systems Divine by Jessica Brody and Joanne Rendell

I read the first book in the series when it came out in 2019 and love it. This series has got two books out so far; Sky Without Stars and Between Burning Worlds and the third book Suns Will Rise is coming out in August this year. I had the sequel pre-ordered and it has been sat on my shelf ever since. I will definitely be getting to the second book before August so I am ready for the third book which I will hopefully read as soon as it released.

This is a Les Misérables retelling which follows three perspectives five hundred years after hope was promised to the planet. It is now ruled by the high class and the poor are left to starve. But the rebels are coming back in the shadows. A thief who will do anything to escape her life agrees to spy on the grandson of the most powerful man. An officer who is being taught to command the governments army. A girl who protects the underground library is brought to the surface after twelve years due to a murder.

The Blood of Stars by Elizabeth Lim

This is another duology featuring the books Spin the Dawn and Unravel the Dusk. Once again, I read the first book in this series during lockdown and loved it. I immediately ordered the second book but for some reason it did not turn up for months and I had gone back to my university address before it arrived. Over Christmas I managed to pick it up, so I am going to read it very, very soon.

Spin the Dawn is a Mulan retelling about a young girl who loves to tailor clothes. However, in their world girls are supposed to marry and have children; not make clothes. Maia decides to take her fathers place when a royal messenger delivers a message about a competition to become the royal tailor. Posed as a boy she risks everything in order to save her family from ruin. But when the challenges get increasingly harder, she realises that achieving her dreams is harder than it seems.

The Witcher by Andrzej Sapkowski

I picked up the first book in this series after watching the Netflix TV show last year. I am obsessed with the TV show; I have watched it three times since it has been released and I really enjoyed the book too. The only reason I have not read the second book yet is that my aunt has my copy of the second book and has not finished with it yet. It is translated from Polish, which is really interesting to see, and I can not wait to get to the rest of this series.

Geralt is a Witcher; a being whose magic has been enhanced. This makes him an excellent assassin, but he targets specific monsters that plague the land. This is a collection of short stories that are set before the official series and this and Sword of Destiny are the books that the first season is based on.

Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas

I have tried to finish this series twice now and I can not get passed the third book. Although I love the first two books and the prequel Assassins Blade for some reason, I can not get into the third. However, I do really want to finish this series and I am planning on trying to read one book a month this year to try and get through it.

I’m sure most people know what this series is about but in case you do not; it follows Celaena Sardothien who is offered her freedom from the horrific salt mines on the condition that she fights for the Crown Prince as his champion. She must compete in a condition to find a new royal assassin against other assassins of the world. But when champions start turning up dead, she realizes something a lot darker is occurring in the palace.

You by Caroline Kepnes

This is another book I picked up after watching the Netflix show like a lot of people. I am obsessed with the TV show and even though I do prefer the TV series I still want to finish the book series. This is written in a really creepy way where it feels like the narrator is watching you instead of the main character.

When Guinevere Beck walks into Joe Goldberg’s bookshop, she does not realise her life is about to change. After he googles her name, he begins to find out everything about her through her social media account. He begins to take control of her through stalking her in order to become her boyfriend. But things get darker when Joe begins to take everything that gets in their way and destroys in.

This is the end of my list of series I need to finish. One of my goals this year is to try and finish some of these series which I know that I will achieve because I am so excited for most of these series! Book Series I Need to Finish Part One

One of my resolutions for this year is to finish more of the series that I have started over the years (if you would like to see what other resolutions I have this year I did a post about it!). During today’s post I’m going to speak about the book series that I really need to finish. The list is in alphabetical as I have none that I want to get to more than others. This post is going to be quite long  but it is going to be split into two posts as it is more of a list, but I hope you enjoy!

A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin

This series is more commonly known as Game of Thrones and I am always intimidated to pick up the next book. I read the first book in this series during 2018 and the second book at the beginning of 2019. I really want to at least get to the third book this year if not a few of them.

For those of you that do not know (although I presume everyone will) A Song of Ice and Fire is a high fantasy series that follows several families as they compete for the Iron Throne; the ruler of the seven kingdoms. After the hand of the king is killed Ned Stark is sent to the Red Keep to help rule the seven kingdoms but there is something not right in the kingdom and the stakes are very high.

All Souls Trilogy by Deborah Harkness

This series includes a Discovery of Witches, Shadow of Night and The Book of Life. I read the first book in 2020 and it did make my top books of the year. I adored the first book and I will definitely be getting to the second book in 2020 without a doubt and hopefully finishing the entire series this year. I adore this story and this world, so I am excited to continue with the series.

This series follows Diana Bishop; a witch who has denied her powers ever since her parents were young. When she uncovers a book that has been missing for centuries where she sets off a chain of events including her involvement with Matthew Clairmont. As it becomes clear the Diana is in danger it is up to her to figure out if she truly wants to turn her back on magic or embrace who she is.

Arc of a Scythe by Neil Schusterman

This book trilogy includes Scythe, Thunderhead and The Toll. I read the first two books in this trilogy back to back in 2018 and I adored them. The second book left me on such a cliffhanger and I could not wait for the third book. However, I have been putting off finishing this series for so long because of how much I love them (I know I sound ridiculous) even though I do own the third book and I am so excited to eventually get to it.

This series follows a world without death; there is no disease, no hunger or war. The only way you can die is by a Scythe in order to keep the population controlled. When Citra and Rowan are chosen to apprentice a scythe, they must compete against each other to become the next scythe; or die as a consequence.

Bloodlines by Richelle Mead

I read this book during my original vampire stage back when Twilight was huge. Before this I had read the Vampire Academy series and absorbed all six of them and then immediately read these books. Even though I really enjoyed this book for some reason I did not end up reading the rest of the series and I have no idea why! I plan on reading this book this month and then hopefully moving onto the rest of the series.

This book follows on from the Vampire Academy series however, the focus is on Sydney; an alchemist whose job is to keep the peace between vampires and humans. Sydney’s decisions during the Vampire Academy lead to her being charged with the protection of Jill Dragomir at a human boarding school.

Crave Series by Tracey Wolff

This is another book series that I started in 2020 which I reviewed for NetGalley and my review will be up on this account soon. This is the book that kicked off my recent vampire addiction; I adored it. I have recently brought myself the sequel Crush and I know the next book is coming out soon so I really want to catch up with the series before the new book.

Crave follows Grace after her parents are killed and she is sent to her uncles boarding school but things are not as they seem. The school is home to people Grace never thought to exist; vampires, werewolves and witches. But when a particular vampire named Jaxon Vega begins to show an interest in her Grace’s life is turned around.

Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan

Another series I began in 2020 after watching the movie again I decided I wanted to get to the source material and see if the book was as good. As much as I enjoyed the first book I’ve heard the rest of the series is not as good so I am unsure about whether I want to continue with this series or not. Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

This follows China’s elite families and their dramas within the families. After one of the richest family’s children brings back his American girlfriend to the wedding event of the year she is thrown into a world that she never knew existed. This book has scandals, heartbreak and all the things you expect of the world’s richest families.

The Diviners by Libba Bray

Last year must have been the year that I started most of my series because I also read this one during the summer last year. I was hooked by this series immediately and I can not wait to get back to this world hopefully this month. This has the possibility to become one of my favourite series because I just love the setting and the characters; just everything about this book.

This is set in the jazz age New York where Evie O’Neil is struggling to hide her unacceptable supernatural power from the world. But when a murder is revealed Evie realizes she could help. But she isn’t the only one with a power. Memphis, Theta and Jericho are hiding there own secrets but with a dark secret unfurling they might be forced to reveal it.

An Ember In The Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

I read the first book in this series in 2017 and the second book in 2018 before I forgot to keep up with the series after that. I loved the first two books in this series, and I don’t know why I did not keep up with the releases because I love the characters and the stories within this series. I do plan on binge reading the entire series soon so that I can finally get to the final two installments.

This follows Elias and Laia within the Martial Empire where if you don’t follow the rules you die. When Laia’s brother is arrested for treason she makes the choice to join the rebels who will free her brother if she spies for them within the academy. Elias is the academy’s finest soldier but all he wants is to be free. But when their fates come together they need to realise who they truly are.

Gumiho by Kat Cho

This is a duology featuring the books Wicked Fox and Vicious Spirits. I read the first book last year during the lockdown due to Books with Chloe’s recommendation and I loved it. It features Korean mythology focusing specifically on the nine tailed fox but has other elements mixed in. Hopefully I will be reading this book within the first few months of this year.

Wicked Fox follows Gu Miyoung; a gumiho who must devour the energy of men. Set in modern day Seoul she takes evil mens lives without anyone noticing. But when she comes across Jihoon, a boy getting attacked by a goblin she saves the boy but loses her soul in the process. When there friendship becomes something more she must decide between her life or his.

His Dark Materials by Phillip Pullman

This series is initially made up of three books; The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass but it has since been extended. Once again I have only read the first book in this series but I really want to catch up before too many books come out. I really enjoyed the first book when I read it around three years ago but I might have to reread it before I carry on with the series.

It follows Lyra after Gobblers steal her best friend Roger. In a world where humans are born with a daemon; an animal bonded to their spirit. She begins to travel North where witch clans and bears that wear armor live in a hunt for her uncle Asriel and the children that have been stolen.

Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick

This is a book series that I read when I first properly began to read. I loved it when I read it but I’m not sure of what I’d think of it if I read it now. I read three out of the four books and I have no idea why I didn’t read the fourth book at the time but now I am not sure if I ever will but maybe one day.

Nora Grey has never been interested in boys until Patch comes along. But even though Patch attempts to push Nora away it only makes her want him more. When Nora’s life is threatened more than once she doesn’t know who is to trust. Especially when she finds out Patch isn’t human.

Illuminae Files by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman

I read the first book in this series back in May 2018 and I did not love it. I thought the concept was amazing and the mix media is one of my favourite formats but for some reason I couldn’t get into the book. However, I think my reading taste has changed in the last two years and now I really want to read the entire series to see what I think of it now. There is three books in this series the second one being Gemina and the third being Obsidio and I know a lot of people love this series so I really want to be able to get behind the hype.

The first book in this series follows two rival corporations who are at war over a planet which is forced to flee. But when a plague breaks out the two realise that from opposing ships they have to communicate to try and figure out what is going on with the ship and stop everyone from being taken over before it is too late.

Legacy Of Orïsha by Tomi Adeyemi

I’m not sure how long this book series is going to be but so far there is two books out; Children of Blood and Bone and Children of Virtue and Vengeance. I read the first book as soon as it came out in 2018 and I loved it! I was so ready for the second book but when it came out, I just did not get round to buying it!

The first book follows a world without magic and Zélie has one chance to bring back magic. In order to do this she must strike against the monarchy and outrun the prince who wants to rid the world of magic once and for all. But as Zélie struggles to get her powers under control she threatens to destroy herself.

Lunar Chronicles by Marrisa Meyer

The final one for today’s post is another series that I am not sure if I am going to carry on with or not. There is four books in this series and a couple of novellas. I did not love the first one and I was never interested in picking up the rest of the series but I have seen people saying how it does get better each book so let me know if you think I should pick this one up or not! I do love a retelling so I thought I would love this series but I am not sure.

The first book is a Cinderella retelling but with androids. A plague is destroying the population and only one girl Cinder, a mechanic, can fix it. But Cinder is an android, a second class citizen who is hated by her step-mother and blamed for her sisters illness. When she meets Kai, who also happens to be the prince she must figure out her own secrets in order to protect the world.

Friday 1st January

Today started off a bit slow on reading. I woke up not feeling too good, so I spent most of the day watching The Greatest Showman and Muppets Christmas Carol (the best Christmas film) on the sofa, but I did mange to get some reading in. I have to finish Nick by Michael Farris Smith by the fifth of January for a Net Galley review, so I decide to try and make a start on that. I read around sixty-eight pages and so far, I am really enjoying this book. I love The Great Gatsby, and this is a retelling about Nick before he came to meet Gatsby. It shows him in the war and how he did fall in love once but it also helps you realize why Nick is the way he is. Smith does a really good job of recreating Fitzgerald’s writing style and enrapturing Nick’s mindset. It will be interesting to see where this book goes but hopefully, I will get a little more read tomorrow as I have nothing planned for the daytime.

Saturday 2nd January

On Saturday it ended up snowing where I live so I went out to take some bookstagram photos in the snow which turned out really cute! I then spent most of the day writing blog posts and trying to keep up with all the ones that I had to do. After this I decided I needed to get some of Nick read so I could finish it by Tuesday, so I ended up running a bath made myself a coffee and got my Hello Pandas to try and get a good chunk of the book read. I managed to get up to page 107 which was some really good progress for the day!

Sunday 3rd January

I managed to read quite a lot of Nick today throughout the day but I also watched Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows p1 with my family to split the day up a bit. On Saturday I go back to my term address so I took quite a lot of my bookstagram photos so that I have some prepared before I go back to my house. I did manage to get to about 100 pages of Nick and I honestly think this is one of the best retellings I have ever read. I can’t believe how brilliant his writing style is and how it compares to that of Fitzgerald. Sometimes I forget I’m not reading his work its that close.

Monday 4th January

Today I finished Nick by Michael Farris Smith just in time to write my view for tomorrow. I ended up giving it four stars because it was an amazing book yet for some reason I could not bring myself to give it five stars, but I still loved the experience of reading it all the same. I read about 150 pages of Nick today in order to finish it, so I did not manage to pick anything else up. Hopefully I can start a new book tomorrow. I do want to eventually start reading a few books at once again because I find when I have got a choice, I end up reading more.

Tuesday 5th January

I could not decide on what to start so I ended up picking Death Bringer by Derek Landy which is part of my Skulduggery Pleasant readathon that I have been doing since the beginning of December. I am loving rereading these books and I cannot wait to share all my thoughts with you when I’ve finished! I read to page 98 of Death Bringer and so far, I am loving it! This is book six in the series and it has been getting a lot darker in the most recent books. So far, this one has a lot of focus on the necromancers which makes a lot of sense as it is called Death Bringer. Hopefully I love this one as much as I have loved the others in the series.

Wednesday 6th January

I ended up not doing any reading today. I have an assignment due in Monday that needed finishing and I also go back to my term address Saturday to start working again so my mum and I have been trying to finish Game of Thrones before I go back. We are on the last series and three episodes in I am so far enjoying it which I know is not a popular opinion with this last season. Thursday 7th January

Today was another bad reading day for me with my assignment and having to pack before going home. I did manage to read one of the short stories in Armageddon Outta Here by Derek Landy which I really enjoyed. I find the short stories just as enjoyable as the full-size novels which is rare because I often don’t enjoy short stories that much. Derek Landy’s writing is extremely witty but dark at the same time. I really enjoy that within books with the comparison between humour and wickedness.

This week was not the best in terms of reading due to my assignment being due however I did end up reading one book and starting another. I finished Nick which I gave four out of five stars and I started Death Bringer by Derek Landy. This meant I read four hundred and forty-eight pages this week which I am really happy with considering how busy I have been. Next week I really want to finish Death Bringer and then start a few books on my January TBR. I hope you enjoyed reading this post and please follow down below!

Books I Need to Get to in 2021 Part 2

This is part two to the blog post I put up yesterday telling you about the other ten books I plan on reading in 2021. I don’t really have much else to say so enjoy!

These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong

This is a debut novel by Chloe Gong that came out in 2020 and I could not be more excited for it. I love retellings, it is a favourite trope of mine especially if they are done well. This book has been receiving so much hype towards the end of the year which makes me so excited to get to this book.

It’s a Romeo and Juliet retelling set in the roaring twenties where a gang leaders’ daughter has been betrayed by the rival gangs’ heir. But when a monster begins killing throughout the city the two heirs must put their issues aside to discover what is destroying their city before it destroys them.

Circe by Madeline Miller

This book was popular a few years back especially on BookTok, so I bought it for my mum for her birthday and then she loved it. She gave it to me, but this is another one that I have never got around too. It is also another book based on Greek mythology which is one of my targets for this year.

Circe is about the daughter of a titan who turns her back on the gods and enters the world of mortals. When Zeus banishes her to a deserted island, she tames wild beasts and meets several of the most famous creatures within Greek mythology. She eventually has to choose between the Gods and the mortals that she has grown to love.

Woven in Moonlight by Isabel Ibañez

This is another book that has become popular more recently. This book has the most gorgeous cover, but I do not know that much about it. I know it surrounds Bolivian politics and is about magic in tapestries. I really want to read this book because of all the amazing reviews I have heard about it.

This follows a girl who is a stand in for a royal but when the prince proposes marriage to the royal, she takes her place. She goes to take revenge for her people who were pushed away by an ancient relic. When the girl takes her place, she finds out the relic is no longer with them and tries to find it in order to regain her people’s lives.

 A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab

I tried to read this book about two years ago but never fully got into it. After reading This Savage Song earlier this year I now really want to read more of V. E. Schwab’s writing because I loved that book. I know that this is her most popular series and everyone loves it so hopefully I can finally get around to reading it.

This is about a world where four London’s exist; red, white, grey and black. Kell travels between the London’s as an ambassador smuggling pieces of the different worlds that others will never get to see. After he meets Delilah who robs him before saving him, he takes her to another world for an adventure.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

This book is BookTubes baby. Everyone and their mum read this a few years ago but for some reason I never got myself a copy. I have however read Daisy Jones and the Six which was one of my favourite books a few years ago. I am also obsessed with old Hollywood and the lives of actresses so this one sounds amazing.

This is about Evelyn Hugo, a glamourous actress who is finally ready to tell all about her scandalous life. When she chooses a journalist that no one has heard about the whole community is confused. Evelyn tells about her making her way to LA before deciding to leave show business as well as all about her husbands. They soon realise their lives are intersected together.

Lady Midnight by Cassandra Claire

I have slowly been making my way through Cassandra Claire’s books and this is the next trilogy on my list now. I’ve really been enjoying revisiting these books especially now I am on the books I have not read before. This is the first book in the Dark Artifices trilogy which is set after the events of The Mortal Instruments series.

This picks up five years after the events of City of Heavenly Fire and Emma Carstairs is set on revenge. Alongside her parabati Julian Blackthorn she has got to figure out a demonic plot that is taking over Los Angeles. After a face from the past is returned by the faeries as a peace offering to try and figure out who is killing their kind the everything gets a little more complicated.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

Another one of BookTubes babies that I haven’t yet got around to. If anyone is interested in me doing a series reading old popular BookTube books, then let me know in the comments! This was A Clockwork Readers favourite book and I know it is supposed to be amazing. It also has a competition trope as well as an enemy to lovers.

This follows a circus that appears overnight. It is only open to the public at night and it is spectacular. But this is a fierce competition between two of the magicians. However, only one can be the winner but when the two become closer than they should have. Despite this they must continue with the game or the fates will destroy everything.

Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor

I cannot believe I have not got to this one yet. This one has been living on my shelf since BookswithChloe recommended it years ago. It was huge on BookTube years ago and is one of the most popular duologies out there. The whole plot of the book sounds amazing and I know I am going to love it when I eventually get to it.

This follows Lazlo Strange who is obsessed with the lost city of Weep. When a group decide to go on an expedition to try and find the city, they choose Lazlo to find it. There is so many unanswered questions but also a mystery to figure out. Who is the woman that keeps appearing in Lazlo’s dreams and why does she seem so real?

The Poppy War by R. F. Kuang

Another series that has been raved about this year, but I just really want to try and get to the first book. I tried to start reading the e-book this year, but I could not focus on the story due to it being on my phone. I have since picked up the physical book but have not got to it, so I am excited to finally get to this one this year.

This is another one that I am not quite sure what it is about. I know this is about a war-torn county and a girl is studying to try and get into a school. After she aces all her exams much to the surprise of everyone around her. But being at the school is harder than she realises, and she might lose herself in the process.

Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff

Finally, we have Godsgrave which is the second book in the Nevernight trilogy. I read the first book earlier in 2020 and I loved it. It made my top ten books of 2020 and I can see this becoming one of my favourite trilogies. Jay Kristoff’s writing is so unique especially with the use of footnotes which I know a lot of people don’t like but I personally loved this little extra.

This series follows Mia Corvere and her shadow cat Mr Kindly as she trains to become an assassin as revenge. She travels to join a school of assassins where she has to beat the rest of the students in several tasks to become a Blade of the Lady Blessed Murder. But when people start to be murdered within the keep Mia must figure out who is behind them before it is too late.

They are all the books that I want to get to in 2021. I am not sure how many I will end up getting to but hopefully I will get through over half of the books on this list. Next year I am going to look back on this list and write a post about if I got to these books or not, but I hope you enjoyed. 2020 Stats and New Years Reading Resolutions

In 2020 I had a really good reading year with the quality of my books. I loved a lot of the books I read this year and I was only disappointed with a couple of them! In today’s post I am going to look at my reading stats, see how much I read and how far I was off my target for the year. I am also going to set some goals for 2021 and I am really excited to share these with you!

2020 Stats

In 2020 my goal was to reach a target of 75 books. I did not manage this goal despite reading a lot all the way through the year. Altogether I read 62 out of the 75 books; this left me at 83% of my goal and 12 books behind target. Even though I did not read as much as I was hoping with my university work as well as the strange year we have had, I am really happy with getting to this many books.

I read a total of 24,240 pages across 62 books which makes my average length of book around 390 pages. I have read a few longer books this year so I expected this to be a little higher, but I have also read a few plays which may have bought this down a little. The shortest book I read this year was a play which was Sylvia Plath: A Dramatic Portrait by Barry Kyle and this was 92 pages long. The longest book I read was The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon which was 848 pages long.

I read a lot of popular books this year but the most popular book I read was The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins which I read as part of my Hunger Games re-read in the summer. The least popular book I read was again Sylvia Plath: A Dramatic Portrait which was only shelved by 19 people! My first book of the year was Wayward Son by Rainbow Rowell which I gave a middle 3*. The book I read with the highest rating on Goodreads was Heartstopper Vol 2 by Alice Oesman which I adore. The series is so pure and deserves all the hype.

My average rating of books was a 4.1* and this is so high. In 2021 I want to try and reduce my ratings and keep 5* for books that I really, really love although this year I have loved so many books! I hope I have as good of reading this coming year which I am sure I will because I have some amazing books that I am planning to read!

Resolutions

For the new year I want to branch out a bit and read books that I don’t tend to get too that much but really enjoy. So I have thought of a few categories of books that I want to read more of within the new year and I have created six resolutions that I want to try and achieve this year. This past year I have really branched out of what I usually read, and I have really enjoyed the majority of what I have read.

Firstly, my book aim for this year is to read 75 books. I know I did not hit this target in 2020 but I got very close and I finish University in May which is going to give me a lot more opportunity to read a lot.

Resolution One – Read More Diverse/Rep Books

This is a goal I want to have every year. I really want to read more books that have more diverse characters and representation that you do not see in many books such as asexual characters and more Latina character especially. I think that I need to expand my reading to include books that include diverse characters as well as books that are set in different cultures so I can keep learning as much as I can. Some books I have read this year such as The Black Flamingo, On The Come Up and Wicked Fox which I loved all of them have a lot of representation in them and I cannot wait to read more this year. Some of the books that I would like to get to in 2021 are Felix Ever After by Kacen Callender, Cemetary Boys by Aiden Thomas and A Song of Wraiths and Ruin by Roseanne A. Brown.

Resolution Two – Read More Verse Books

In this past year I have discovered my love of verse books especially The Black Flamingo and Clap When You Land. I just find them so interesting and such powerful stories. It’s such an interesting format to read and I really want to expand the formats of books that I read this year rather than just sticking to the usual format of books. I don’t know of many verse books so if you have any reccomendations please leave them down below! Some of the books I have seen are Other Words for Home by Jasmine Warga, The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo and Punching the Air by Ibi Zoboi and Yusef Salaam.

Resolution Three – Read More Greek Mythology Based Books

From when I was younger, I have always loved Greek Mythology and books surrounding it such as the Percy Jackson series. I am listening to a Greek mythology podcast at the minute (Lets Talk About Myths Baby on Spotify) which is just reminding me about how much I love mythology. I have a few books in mind for this resolution such as Circe and Son of Achilles by Madeline Miller, Persephone by Katlin Bevis and Orpheus Girl by Brynne Rebele-Henry.

Resolution Four – Read More Japanese Books/Manga

I love Japanese culture and want to read more Japanese translated books especially manga. Recently I have really got into anime and I have read a few manga’s in the past, but I really want to read more because it is one of my favourite formats to read. I really need some more recommendations though so if anyone has any that they love please leave them in the comments. A few I have my eye on are Horimiya, Tokyo Ghoul and Death Note.

Resolution Five – Read More Horror Books

This past year I have really explored my love of horror films and now I would like to explore my love of horror through reading. I have never really read any horror books apart from a few Stephen King books such as The Shinning, IT and Carrie. I would like to explore some more of Stephen King’s works but also some other horror writers. Some of the books I have my eye on is OUT by Natsuo Kirino, Let The Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist and The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson.

Resolution Six – Finish More Series

Finally, my biggest reading goal this year is to finish some of the many series I have started. There is so many where I just read the first book in the series and then forget to read the rest of them. I have got a blog post coming out soon which is book series that I need to finish which will discuss all of the series I have started but not yet finished. Some of the series that I definitely want to complete in 2021 are Skulduggery Pleasant by Derek Landy, Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas and an Ember in the Ashes.

These are all my stats and resolutions for 2021. I can not wait to reflect on these resolutions at the end of this year and see if I completed them or not. January TBR

So, I have decided to start this year off with a bang and to restart my book blog! I love writing and expressing my love for books but have not been able to fully commit to my book blog, but I have decided 2021 is going to be my year! Throughout January I have decided that I will be posting a blog post every single day! I thought I would start with the most basic post and tell you my TBR for the month of January!

I really love the idea of a book bingo as I’ve been wanting to do one forever. I did do one in my old blog but as that one doesn’t exist anymore this is chance to start fresh in the new year. I have a list of 90 prompts each which equate to a bingo ball. Each month I will choose a random number generator of one to twelve to choose how many balls I will have to spin that month. The number I rolled this month is eight so I will have to choose eight prompts for January. In the next few months if I don’t complete a prompt, I will have to add an extra roll onto next month. Also, if I get a multiple of ten, I will have to roll an extra prompt. So, let’s get on with the rolls…

First Roll – 35: Read an E-Book

So, the first roll I got was thirty-five which equated to the prompt read an e-book. This prompt was kind of perfect as I have several on my Net Galley shelves which I need to get to pretty soon however, I have chosen Nick by Michael Farris Smith. This book comes out on January 5th, so I am a little bit late getting to it, but I am so excited for this book. This book is inspired by The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald which is my favourite classic. I read it during my A-Levels, and this was the only book I read for that class that I actually enjoyed.

This follows the main character Nick before he met Gatsby when he was serving within World War One. After returning home he tries to escape his past by traveling the world trying to find himself through romance as well as alcohol. I can’t wait to see how Smith portrays this character and also to jump back into the world of the dazzling twenties.

Second Roll – 46: Read A Book of a Certain Colour

For my second roll I got forty-six which was to read a book of a certain colour. For this roll I had to go on a random colour generator which chose a kind of baby/light blue colour. I decided the closest I could get to this colour is Vicious Spirits by Kat Cho. I have had this book on so many of last year’s TBR, but I just have not manage to get to this yet.

Vicious Spirits is the sequel to Wicked Fox which I read last year, and I loved it. It focuses on Korean myths of the nine-tailed fox and other Korean mythology. I really enjoy books that are based off mythology and this one did not disappoint. Although this one follows a different set of protagonists, I am really looking forward into learning more about the world and the myths that surround it.  

Third Roll – 26: Read A Book Published In 2015

This is a very random prompt, but a lot of amazing books came out in 2015 and I have decided to choose Lair of Dreams by Libba Bray. Once again, I read the first book in this series, The Diviners, in 2020 and I have been wanting to get to this book ever since. The world, the characters, the mystery; everything about this book is beautiful and I can not wait to get back into it.

Another book on this TBR that is set in the jazz age it follows Evie, a girl that can read peoples secrets just by touching something they own as well as Henry and Ling who can travel through each other’s dreams. Together they form part of the Diviners; humans that have powers unlike others. I just love the dark atmosphere in these books as well as the setting in general, so I am really excited to finally get to this one.

Fourth Roll – 90: Read A Marvel Book

Not only is this prompt a multiple of ten so I have to read another book this month, but it is also the prompt to read a Marvel book. I currently do not have any unread Marvel books on my shelf, so I am going to have to get one. The one I am thinking about getting is the Black Widow book Forever Red which follows Black Widow mentoring a girl that she finds in Russia. I don’t really know anything about this other than that, so I am going to leave it at that.

Fifth Roll – 2: Read A Diverse Book

I have a lot of diverse books on my TBR at the moment but the one I have decided to pick is A Song of Wraiths and Ruin by Roseanne A. Brown. This book is inspired by West African folklore and is the first book in a new duology. This book was on my TBR several times towards the end of last year, but I just did not get around to it due to work and University, so I am really excited to hopefully get to this one this month.

I know that this follows a court after the queen is assassinated and our main character is her daughter but I’m not quite sure about much else. I’ve heard such great things about it from other people that I kind of want to go into it blind, but I hope the hype does not ruin it for me.

Sixth Roll – 69: Read a Book with An Animal on The Cover

For this roll I have chosen another book that I have been meaning to get to for a very long time which is Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo. She is my favourite author of all time and I have been putting off reading this book for a long time. It’s not her usual works and I have heard mixed reviews about it, but I am really looking forward to getting into this.

I know this is a very dark academia vibe book that’s set in a boarding school. I think it might be a dual timeline that flickers between two murders; one in the present day and one that happened in the past. I know I will love this book as I love a thriller and I have never read anything of Leigh Bardugo’s that I have not enjoyed.

Seventh Roll – 80: Buy A Book!

So, this prompt is both a great prompt and a not so great prompt! I get to treat myself to a book for this one, but it is January and I’m not sure how I’m going to be able to achieve that. It is also another multiple of ten which means another book added to my TBR making the total ten.

The book I am thinking of is a Junji Ito book maybe Tomie I’m not sure yet. I read Uzumaki in 2020 and loved it and I have been wanting to dive back into his books ever since. Junji Ito is a horror manga writer and his works are really twisted and strange but also really fascinating to read! I may change my mind about which book I buy but for the moment it’s this one.

Eighth Roll – 1: Adult Romance

What should have been my final role is adult romance. I have grown to love adult romance over the course of the past year from when I read The Flatshare by Beth O’Leary. For this prompt I have decided to go with Can You Keep A Secret? by Sophie Kinsella. I was meaning to read this last year after I watched the film with Tyler Hoechlin which I thought was hilarious.

This book follows a girl who after getting scared on a plane during some turbulence tells the stranger next to her all her secrets. This turns out to be her boss that was flying in to check on the company. I hope the book is as good as the film, but I hear it could even be better than the film.

Ninth Roll – 32: Alphabet Book

For this book I used a random letter generator to choose a letter which ended up being the letter C. I knew immediately which book I wanted to read for this and that is Crush by Tracy Wolff. I read Crush which is the first book in this series at the end of 2020 and I loved it. I have written a review on it which will be back up on this account sometime in the future.

Crave followed a girl whose parents have recently died so she is sent to live with her Uncle at a boarding school. Its here that she finds out that vampires, witches and dragons are real. It brought me back to my fourteen-year-old twilight phase.

Tenth Roll: 14: Fantasy

My tenth and final roll gave me fantasy. I am so glad I go this as it gave me the opportunity to put Star Daughter by Shveta Thakrar. This was one of my most anticipated books for 2020 and I can not wait to get to it. The cover of this book is absolutely stunning, and I have a feeling this is going to be a new favourite.

It follows a girl who is half human and half star but when her father gets ill, she must travel to the celestial court. The only other thing that I know about this book is that it involves a form of competition which is one of my favourite tropes in books.

So, there are my ten book picks for January. I think this is going to be a really good month for reading especially with the amazing books that I have managed to get on to my TBR.
