Lucy’s Coming For You by Ashley Beegan

This was a book that I read last year and when I requested it I was not expecting much to come of it. I saw on NetGalley that it was pushed as a thriller and thought the concept sounded really interesting. I did not expect to love it as much as I did.

‘Lucy Clarke? There is no Lucy Clarke on this ward’

When a girl goes missing from a locked hospital ward Summer Thomas, an advocate for the patients, questions everything especially when it turns out that no one will admit Lucy ever existed. However, as she starts to look into the disappearance it turns out that there is so much more than what meets the eye. Especially when she finds out not only is she searching for Lucy. But Lucy is looking for her too.

This book had me on the edge of my seat for the entirety of the book and what helped that along is that all the characters in this book are likeable. You could feel all her emotions as if you were living alongside her; the fear, the anxiety, the constantly looking over your shoulder. DI Swanson is the lead detective, and it is really interesting to see the two characters develop over the course of these books.

Lucy’s coming for you kept me entertained the entire way through and was such a quick and easy read which made it that much more enjoyable. What really made this book interesting was the plot twist. You can not see it coming no matter how much you look into this book, and it blew my mind the entire time. This is my definition of an amazing psychological thriller as it keeps you guessing as well as making you worried about how the plot is going to play out.

This book was such an amazing debut novel which resulted in me giving it four stars. The great twists, the ending and the characters all made this such an enjoyable read. I will be continuing with the series as and when it comes out.

Thank you to NetGalley for the copy of this book!

The Girl Who Fell Beneath The Sea by Axie Oh

Axie Oh has created the most beautiful Korean mythology with this novel and it made my heart so full to be able to read this. I was so excited to receive this as it is one of my most anticipated reads of the year! This cover captured me as soon as it was released and the words on the inside matched the beauty of the outside.

‘The myths of my people say only a true bride of the Sea God can bring an end to his insatiable wrath’

This follows Mina a young girl from a small village who sacrifices herself to be the next Sea God’s bride to try to save her family from the storms that have continued for generations. She is taken to the spirt world only to find the Sea God in an enchanted sleep. Mina attempts to wake the Sea God only to find there are many who would rather the Sea God did not wake.

‘Behind me, spread out like a painter’s canvas is the Sea God’s city’

The first thing that caught my attention was the irresistible imagery created by Axie Oh’s writing style. Every word on the page is so wonderfully thought out and creates a magical atmosphere that captures this world perfectly. From the market stalls to the different Houses I felt like I could picture them all through all the language used. My personal favourite part was when Mina first enters the city of souls and the markets full of celebration so the colours are so bright and vibrant.

The mythology in this book in so interesting to read about and keeps expanding the more you get into the book. I would really love to read the original story that this book was based upon in the future as I have heard that is beautiful as well.

Mina’s friendships within the Sea God’s city are so cute to see develop and expand as the novel goes on however Mina and Namgi are perfect. Their jokes and playfulness as well as their protectiveness over each other made my heart so happy. It develops so much throughout the novel that it feels like you love them more and more the further in you go.

But the thing I loved most about this book is the romance. It is such a slow burner however; it keeps you wanting more the entire time. The whole book has you wanting them to end up together yet unsure of whether they would or not.

Overall, this book has been one of my favourites of the year so far and I can not wait to see what Axie Oh comes up with next. I did end up rating this one five stars because I loved Mina, Namgi and Shin so much and the writing style reminded me why I love reading so much.

Thank you to NetGalley for this review copy!

Good Girl Complex by Elle Kennedy Review

I was so excited to receive this review copy after reading The Deal last year. Elle Kennedy’s books are so easy to read and always leave me with such a happy feeling after I’ve read them. This one especially gave me such a cosy and calm feeling after reading. The beach setting and the animal aspect of this book as well as the romance which left me craving more from the couple. This had all the best aspects of The Deal with the perfect location and the perfect guy added in.

This follows Mackenzie who has her entire life figured out; a perfect boyfriend, her career planned out and parents who expect the most. All she wants to do is focus on her business, but her parents are insisting that she gets a degree first. Cooper hates the prep school students that fill his beach for most of the year. When Cooper is dared to get close to Mac, he soon realizes that she is not like every other ‘clone’ that he’s ever met.

The romance in this book made the book for me. Although some parts of the book was predictable I loved how easy this romance was to read. There were some really cute moments between Mac and Cooper which left me smiling a little to myself. Cooper is everything you need in a book guy the tattoos, his personality and his vibes were perfect as well as the way he defends Mac against his friends made me so happy.

I loved the side characters in this book especially Evan. He was so calming and such a good energy in the book. Especially when him and Daisy are together it is the cutest thing ever. Although this book worked really well as a standalone, I would love to see a book based around Evan and him finding someone. Also, I would love to see his relationship with his brother and explore his feelings around his mum as well as his childhood. Mac and Evans friendship was so adorable to see develop throughout, and I would love to see this more in another book.

The one thing that I did not enjoy in this book was the ending. Everything felt really abrupt about the ending with the events that occurred at the end of the book. There felt like there was a lot of unresolved issue in the end and I would like to see these wrapped up in the next book. A lot of the characters have unresolved business so hopefully this will all be addressed.

Overall, this book was a cute, easy, fast read that I could enjoy on my way to work in a morning that I did not have to pay much attention too. I ended up giving it 3.5 stars because there were some things I loved about this book and some things that I did not enjoy as much. I had some issues with the ending and a couple of the events in the book but overall, it was such a fun book. Cooper and Mac are adorable, and Evan has my heart. I will continue with the series as I think this is the perfect beach read for summer and I can not wait to see where the series goes.

Only A Monster by Vanessa Len Review

This book exceeded all and more of my expectations. Vanessa Len creates a rich and intriguing world which sucks you in from the first sentence. It features some of the most iconic tropes and makes them her own to create a beautiful and exciting story. This first book in a new trilogy is perfect for fans of This Savage Song and is mixed with a little time travel.

Following a world where Monsters exist with human appearances where their power is to travel through time by touching the back of a human’s neck and stealing part of their lifespans. When Joan Chang-Hunt discovers that she is a monster after a horrific event she is forced to ally with Aaron Oliver who is part of a century long feud with the Hunt family. Whilst being hunted by the prophesised hero they are forced to flee to the 1990’s Joan is forced to figure out whether she wants to be part of the world of monsters or not.

One of my favourite parts of this story was the time travel aspect. Len creates a solid structure for her time travel rules as soon as it is introduced making it so easy to understand which shows how much research went into this book. It was so interesting to see the various time eras that the duo travel to and seeing how they changed their clothing and how they interacted with the various people throughout. Len allows you to question the morality of what the monsters do to access their powers yet makes you want to still want them to succeed. It made me want to go and roam around the back streets of London in nineties clothes and explore the back alleys.

The other thing I loved about this book was the romance. I know who I was rooting for and it definitely wasn’t who Joan was rooting for. Aaron Oliver has my heart through and through. The way he grows as a person and learns throughout his experiences throughout the book was so interesting and so lovely to experience. Joan and his relationship growth was the perfect enemies to friends to almost something had me rooting for them the entire time.

This book was everything I wanted and made me fall back in love with the YA genre. The characters, the world building, the romance was all perfection and is perfect to bring you out of the reading slump you may be in. With all of my favourite tropes wrapped in a perfect story with loveable characters I would recommend this book to everyone. The ending left me heartbroken and I can not wait for the rest of the trilogy to be released!

The Lighthouse Witches by C. J. Cooke

This book is one of the best things I have ever read, and I do not know why more people are not talking about it. This novel follows a family when two sisters go missing on an island and then twenty years later one of the sisters turns up the exact same age as when she vanished. This book has three narratives; it follows the witches in the past, the months leading up to the girls going missing and the narrative of when the girl is found all those years later.

This book was so different to anything I have read in the past. I loved it from the first page to the last. The thing that gripped me from the start was the atmosphere. Rainy Scotland on the coast with a strange and creepy lighthouse – what more could you ask for? It follows Liv and her three daughters after they arrive at the lighthouse only to discover that this town used to be home to witches and witch trials. After seeing a strange creature on her doorstep Liv gets sucked into the town legends of the demon children that swap places with the real children and take over their lives. However when two of her own children go missing Liv has to decide what she decides in. Meanwhile twenty years later the remaining daughter is trying to struggle her way through life when one of her sisters turns up the exact same age as when she vanished leaving them with a mystery that has been unsolved for over two hundred years.

This book is ultimately about witches and how even today witch hunts can take over peoples lives. The lighthouse is built upon the grounds where witches were killed many years ago without trial. The historical aspect of this book was so interesting to me to see how even though these witches were people within a community and had friends they could be turned on for the slightest thing even something like witchcraft. When going into this book I had no idea that Scotland had even had its own witch trials which made this book even more interesting to read.

This book encompasses fear. The fear a mother has for their children, the fear of isolation and being turned on by the people in your life, the fear of the unknown. Liv, the mother of the three girls displays that the whole way through this book and makes you feel the same fear of not knowing what is going to happen. Although I did not find this book too scary reading this at night definitely gave me the spooky atmosphere I was looking for.

One of the things I truly loved about this book was the displays of love that occurred the entire way through. The love a mother has for her children, the love of siblings and even the love of strangers. Luna the youngest sister never truly gives up looking for her sisters and that is such a special thing to read about in a book. Although Liv’s love is questionable throughout due to the decisions she makes it is clear that she loves her daughters more than anything.

This book was just like nothing I had ever read before which is why I enjoyed it so much. I loved the atmosphere, the witchy vibes and the family aspect. This book was definitely a five out of five stars. If you have not read this book yet you need to get to it as soon as possible. I can not wait to read the rest of C.J. Cooke’s books and I will hopefully enjoy them as much as I enjoyed this one.

Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins for this review copy in return for a review!

You Love Me by Caroline Kepnes Review

Most times I am a huge believer in the fact that the book is always better than the movie. In most cases I am still a huge believer in this. However, this book series seems to be an exception to the rules. The first book started out really strong and used to be one of my favorites. The second one was good, and I loved the addition of Love, yet it had still lost the charm of the first book. This one especially seems to have lost what I loved most about the series. This review will contain spoilers so please do not read ahead if you have not read the series.

You Love Me follows Joe after the choices he made in Hidden Bodies. He moves to a small town away from everything he knows and is being paid off by Love’s parents to have no contact with both Love and the baby. After getting a job at the local library he meets Mary Kay DiMarco the head librarian. Joes determined not to obsess over her like he did the others trying to prove that he can win the old-fashioned way. However, the added challenge of Mary Kay having a daughter and a husband may bring Joe back to his old ways.

In the first book I was truly interested in how it was portrayed as though Joe was constantly watching the reader. Through the use of writing in the second person it made the reader more immersed within the book and was something I had never read before. Two books later and I feel as though the story lines and the writing has become too repetitive through the constant change in love interests. Although this one brings in the aspect of Joe going through his life in a small town and having a family to contend with within the love interest the narrative felt lost and confusing. Usually, I love Caroline Kepnes’ writing yet this book felt so repetitive to me in terms of the words used with special mention to ‘Meerkat’ and ‘Murakami’.

The family aspect of this book is one of the unique things that has happened within this series, and I am still unsure of how I feel about this. The daughter in the book really was not my favourite aspect, however it was interesting to see how she impacted the story. The added edition of the husband was what really made me dislike this dynamic of the novel. I feel as though it just made the main character Mary Kay even more unlikable because even though her husband is not a great person Mary Kay seems to often forget about her daughter and none of her decisions seem to reflect what is the right decision for her. However, the daughter is the most unlikable character in the entire series especially when she tries to seduce Joe despite the fact, she is only eighteen and he is dating her mother.

Usually in books I do not like, the side characters often save it for me however, Melanda was the unlikable version of Peach. She is the psycho best friend who tries to ruin Joe and MK however, Joe just kills her off as he does with every other character. As well as the other side character who kidnaps Joe and tries to kill him who Joe thinks is also in love with MK however he is actually sleeping with her daughter which is where I think this book fully lost me.

The one thing I do love about this entire series is Joes inner monologue. Some of the comments that he makes within the book makes me laugh out loud because they are so strange and wonderful. The way he just views his actions and how he truly believes that he never does anything apart from in the interest of the woman is really interesting and funny to read about.

Overall, this book was not one of my favorites and I ended up giving it 2 stars out of 5. Despite usually loving Caroline Kepnes writing style I found this book repetitive and lacked in keeping my interest. Unfortunately, despite loving Joe Goldberg’s inner narrative I do not think I will be continuing with the book series and instead just sticking with the TV show. If anyone would like to see a post about all the differences between the TV show and the book, please comment down below and let me know your thoughts on the book!

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House for my review copy!

Awakened by Ciara Duggan Review

This book initially caught my attention due to the stunning cover yet when I saw how it had been pitched I had extremely high hopes. When I requested it I saw the premise and thought that it was trying to compare itself to a lot of great books. When referred to as for fans of ‘Crave’, ‘Hush Hush’ and ‘The Vampire Diaries’ you are setting yourself up for a brilliant book and I felt as if Awakened nearly lived up to it.

Awakened follows Hannah after loosing her parents in an accident. Desperate to leave her old life behind and escape the past Hannah moves for college at Bellcliff University. Once there she discovers that she can feel the magic around the school before accidentally awakening a witch in a hidden cave by the campus. Hannah is forced to face the fact that she has brought magic back to the world as she struggles to realise that she has been a part of this narrative for a lot longer than she remembers.

The story in this book had such good potential and it did deliver in some aspects. The dual timeline narrative really added to the story-line by letting you see the story play out in both the present and the past. The history aspect of the book was the most interesting to read about and seeing how the witches developed made the book so interesting.

The main character Hannah was really fun to read about as she had very relatable moments to discovering the magic. The representation of anxiety through Hannah’s character was interesting however, in some points it felt like the anxiety was not portrayed in the right way.

On the other hand some aspects of the book were a little hard to read especially with the matter of insta love. The two main characters instantly fell for each other and although it was explained within the book it still felt a little too much. A lot of aspects of the story felt as though they were not expanded as much as they needed to be.

Overall I feel as though the book needed to be developed more with the story line as well as more focus on the side characters which is what resulted in it being a three star book for me. The characters were interesting and the magic system was captivating however needed more detail in order for this to be a higher rated book. I would maybe read more of the series if it developed the characters and the story.

Thank you for NetGalley for this book in exchange of an honest review!!

2022 Reading Goals

2022 is going to be my year surrounding my book goals. Last year I did not read much until around mid year so my goals got forgotten about a little bit however, I am officially in my reading era again. I have around seven book goals that I would like to get to this year. This may be a little bit ambitious but I am extremely ready to push myself and try and stick to some goals this year.

  1. Read 100 books

Last year I was at university for half of the year and did not really focus on reading till around July. I managed 76 books in 2021 so I have upped my goal to 100 this year to make up for the lost time I had during university now I have more free time.

2. Read more Stephen King

I always say that Stephen King is one of my favourite authors however I have actually only read a small amount of his books. The top of my list to read this year is Cell, Four Seasons and Misery. I really want to try and read one a month but at least one every couple of months.

3. Read horror books

I recently discovered my love of horror books and I really want to expand my collection and the ones I have read. This one ties in with reading more Stephen King who is supposed to be the king of horror. I have a list but I would to find more abstract recommendations of ones that are truly going to scare me.

4. Read my NetGalley books

I have been approved for many books on NetGalley however, I have not read as many as I would have liked, and I also have not reviewed enough of the ones I have read. I would love to get my score above 80% by the end of the year however that may be a little bit too high so realistically I would like to at least get it above 50%.

5. Finish the series I have already started

This is such a bad habit of mine. I will begin a series and then I will never finish it. I have around thirty-four unfinished series on my shelf. My goal this year is to at least finish ten of these series especially as some of the unfinished series are duologies.

6. Get my physical TBR down

This is my main goal of the year. I have definitely been buying way too many books recently and not reading as many. My TBR is way over where I would like it to be and I am officially on a book buying ban until the end of June in order to try and get my TBR under control a little bit more.

7. Update my blog more

This isn’t so much a reading goal, but I would love to get back into posting my reviews more and make sure my blog stays updated. I would love to do a review for the majority of the books I read however, making sure I do them for my favourite books is really important so that I can look back on them and see my thoughts.

I would love to make sure I complete at least some of these goals by the end of the year even if I do not complete them all. Through the year I really want to reflect on my goals and see which ones I need to work on more as well as which ones I have actually achieved.

Quincredible Vol 1: Quest To Be The Best by Rodney Barnes

I really enjoyed this comic. It took superhero comics back to their core and set up for a really good series. This comic gave me Misfits meets Ms Marvel vibes but with a diverse set of characters which I really enjoyed. Although there were some areas of the world that I though were lacking it was overall a solid start to a comic series that I would continue with.

“Guilty until proven innocent. I’m familiar with that concept.”

Quincredible follows Quinton (Quin) West. He has been bullied all of his life and never expected more from it. This is set in New Orleans just after Katrina. When a meteor shower begins to give citizens of the city superpower Quin realises, he has the power of invincibility. Whilst struggling to accept his new power he begins to realize that being a superhero is not as easy as it appears on TV.

This is a coming of age comic which was really nice to read about. I enjoyed experiencing Quin’s development not only with his powers but with himself. The social commentary within Quin’s town with everything they are experiencing is really interesting to feel and allows you to see the fine line between good and evil and doing what you think is right. His character is relatable to young people everywhere as not only is he a superhero, but he also has to tidy his room like any other 14-year-old boy. The art style gave off the old comic book vibe but with a modern twist which I really enjoyed. The family aspect and dynamic within this first edition was sweet and cute to see develop as the story goes on and it gives you a good insight into why they are as close as they are which you do not get within a lot of comic books.

The one issue I had with this comic was that the main villain felt a little underdeveloped. We did not see much of him apart from in the last quarter of the book and it did not explain the reasons he was doing what he did. The ending overall just seemed slightly rushed in comparison to the rest of the comic. This could be explained in a later comic but that is why my rating is slightly lower for this one.

Overall, I thought this was a strong start to the series although I am hoping for a little bit more of a backstory in the next few editions. From what I understand this is part of an expansive universe which I would like to look into. I would recommend this to fans of Miles Morales and Ms Marvel as it really gave me them feelings throughout. This ended up being 3.5 stars and I can not wait to see what happens next.

Thank you to Lion Forge and NetGalley for this review copy! All opinions in this are my own!

Most Anticipated 2021 Sequels

2021 has so many amazing books coming out this year that I could not contain them into one blog post. So, today’s is going to be about my most anticipated sequels coming out this year. I have found eleven books (I tried to get it down to ten, but I couldn’t!) that currently have release dates for this year most of which I have already preordered. This list is in order of release date and I am so excited to finally get to all of these.

Concrete Rose by Angie Thomas – 12th January 2021

This is a prequel to Angie Thomas’s much-loved book The Hate U Give. This follows Garden Heights seventeen years prior to The Hate U Give. Maverick Carter is a family man who only knows how to take care of his family in one way: dealing with the King Lords. He’s got his girlfriend and his cousin to help him. Until he finds out he has a son. This finally gives him the chance to get straight, finish school and care for his son. But it’s not that easy to just walk away.

I love Angie Thomas’s book. They are so beautifully written it gives such an insight into different cultures. The Hate U Give and On the Come Up are such prominent books within the YA book community and I do think that everyone should read them at least once. Hopefully Concrete Rose will be as insightful as the other two novels which I am sure it will be as Angie Thomas has not let me down so far.

Liberte by Gita Trelease – 2nd February 2021

This is the sequel to the book Enchantée (All That Glitters). I read the first book in this series when it first came out and I adored it. The setting was beautiful, and the characters were amazing. It follows Paris within the revolution Camille can change objects with magic. But when struggling to survive she decides to go for a bigger target. The court of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. She is forced to change into a baroness she meets a group of inventors, but she struggles to keep a hold of herself in the process.

This book was so beautiful mainly because of the description of the beautiful Parisian setting. It was so interesting to see the comparison between that of the revolutionaries and the aristocrats. It has such a good family dynamic within it and that is hard to achieve so if you like books with that dynamic then you should check out this series. I really loved Camille and Lazare. They were not like your usual YA couple; they could hold a conversation that held meaning to it and their romance developed at such a good pace.

A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas – 16th February 2021

If you do not know about this one you have been living in a cave. This is the highly anticipated sequel to the A Court of Thorns and Roses series. This book series surrounds the feys in their different courts. Feyre is dragged into this world after killing a wolf in order to help her family. This newest instalment is the first book in a side series based off Feyre’s sister Nesta and Cassian.

I loved this series when I first read it. I know it is currently receiving a lot of hype on BookTok as well as Instagram, but I can not remember much of it and I am hoping to reread it before getting to this one. Although it does have its issues, I do think this is a very good series and I hope I enjoy my reread and this newest book as much as I remember loving them.

Covet by Tracey Wolff – 2nd March 2021

This is one of my most highly anticipated books. It is the third book in the Crave series which follows Grace after her parents die and she is sent to a boarding school in the middle of nowhere in Alaska. Here she meets Jaxon Vega, the guy that everyone looks up too. But the school is not what it seems, its full of paranormal creatures from vampires to werewolves to witches.

I am obsessed with this series. I read the first book in December and I have just finished the second book. Each book ends on a bigger cliff-hanger than the last and I think this is in the top two anticipated books. I love everything about these books, the characters, plot, humour, storyline. I hope this third book is as good as the last two.

Rule of Wolves by Leigh Bardugo – 30th March 2021

This is the sequel to the new Nickolai series by Leigh Bardugo. The first book in this series follows Nickolai three years after the events of Ruin and Rising. I’m not quite sure what else happens because I still have not read the first book in this series!

I anticipate anything that Leigh Bardugo brings out because she is my favourite author. Her Six of Crows series is my favourite books of all time and I know I will love this series as much as I loved her other books. Hopefully, I will be rereading her entire works at some point this year.

Skulduggery Pleasant Dead or Alive by Derek Landy – 1st April 2021

Skulduggery Pleasant is a long series, and this is the fourteenth book in the series. This series follows skeleton detective Skulduggery and his sidekick Valkyrie Cain. Thrown into the world of elementals and adepts Valkyrie is forced to keep fighting evil one day at a time.

This series has been one of my favourites since I was really young. I am currently rereading all of them in anticipation for this one. This is the only middle grade book on this list, but I really do love it. It is a long series to start but I really recommend it. The humour is perfect, and the magic system is one of my favourites in books.

Oculta by Maya Motayne – 6th April 2021

This is a Latinx inspired series following a girl who can change her face at will and a prince. The two have to team up in order to stop an evil that has been released on the world. After the prince’s older brother was murdered, he felt as though he could not live up to his older brother’s example.

I read this book a few years ago but I can not remember much about it. I do remember loving it especially the magic system involving the shapeshifting aspect. Before I read this book, I do plan on rereading the first book so that I can enjoy the sequel just as much. The whole world building in this book was beautiful and I can not wait to be thrown back into it again.

The Nobleman’s Guide to Scandal and Shipwrecks by Mackenzi Lee – 27th April 2021

This is the third book in the Montague sibling’s series; the first book following Percy and the second following Felicity. The final book in this series will be following Adrian Montague as he searches for his siblings. Siblings that up until recently he had no idea existed. As he goes to the Caribbean to seek the rest of his mother’s things after her death, he discovers his family tree.

I loved the Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue when I read it when it first came out. Then I was not as keen on the second book The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy. However, this book sounds like it has a lot of focus on Monty again who is my favourite character so I am hoping I will love this one as much as I loved the first.

Heartstopper Vol 4 by Alice Oesman – 13th May 2021

Heartstopper follows Nick and Charlie two boys in High School who are trying to figure out who they are. Nick is the jock of the school and closeted from his family and friends whilst Charlie has just come out and is struggling to find his place. This explores their relationship from its highs and lows.

I love this series. It is so cute and easy to read. I like to read them as an escape, and it is so nice to read something so nice whilst everything is going on. I am currently working my way through Alice Oesman’s work and I am loving all of them. Hopefully this one is as good as the last three.

When Night Breaks by Janella Angeles – 24th August 2021

The first book in this series follows a magical competition where magicians compete to earn a place as a headliner in the Conquering Circus. As each act becomes riskier the contestants struggle more. Especially when they start showing up maimed and injured. Kallia must figure out who is behind the injuries before she gets hurt herself.

I loved this book. It ended up being in my top ten books of 2020 and I can not wait for the next one to come out. The cover already makes me love it and the synopsis sounds amazing. The whole idea of the competition and the magic used throughout this book is beautifully written. The first book also left off on a cliff-hanger, so I need this book as soon as possible!

The Bronzed Beasts by Roshani Chokshi – 21st September 2021

This is another third and final book in a series. This is the final book in the Gilded Wolves trilogy which surrounds a heist to find an artifact which an ancient order seeks. To do this Séverin the leader pulls together four unlikely people to retrieve it: an engineer, a historian, a dancer, and a brother. They explore the dark, wealthy streets of Paris in order to find it so that Séverin can retrieve his true inheritance.

I do not want this series to end. This is truly one of my favourite book series and I do not think it gets the hype that it deserves. I think this might be my most anticipated release this year.  Each book takes place in a different location which feels as though I am being transported throughout every novel to a different place. The first one takes place in Paris, the second in Russia and this third instalment will be taking place in Venice which sounds amazing. The last book ended on a huge cliff hanger and I cannot wait for this last instalment even though I do not want it to ever end. These characters are so special to me and make me love them each time I read this book. The romance is heartbreakingly beautiful, and the friendship dynamics are some of the best I have ever read. Also, this cover is beautiful.

I am really excited for all of these releases this year. It is such a great year for book sequels and I this is not even all of them! Some of them I am more excited for than others but they are all great series that I would recommend to everyone. Thank you for reading; please comment your most anticipated sequel down below and follow to find out my other anticipate books for this year!
